New Stainless Steel SDS Motor Disconnects Help You Prioritize Sanitation

When it comes to maintaining sanitation, stainless steel enclosures are critical. For one, stainless steel can tolerate repeated washdown cycles. It also has better impact resistance-making metallic enclosures popular in high-traffic, end-of-line applications in packaging, manufacturing and pharmaceutical facilities.

At MENNEKES, we now offer stainless steel motor disconnects with traditional screw style covers, enabling you to cost-effectively prioritize sanitation in your plant environment. Let's take a closer look at this new series of motor disconnects:

SDS Motor Disconnects: At a Glance
Our new SDS Series of motor disconnects offers the benefits of stainless steel similar to our SPEC Grade sloped-top enclosures. Units provide superior corrosion resistance while withstanding the rigors of everyday washdown with corrosive cleaning agents. Rated 30, 60 and 100 Amps, SDS disconnects are available in three compact enclosure sizes and offer generous wire bending space to facilitate installation. Six-pole configurations are also available for two-speed or reversing motors.

SDS disconnects feature a sleek, hygienic design that promotes the cleanliness of your whole installation. Units integrate captive cover screws, as well as a "clean profile"; handle that minimizes harborage and meets OSHA and lockout-tagout (LO/TO) requirements.

Notable features include:

  • Six-pole options
  • Highly visible LO/TO handle
  • IP69K and UL Type 4X rating
  • One-piece punched EPDM gasket
  • Replaceable DIN rail mounted switch
  • Early break and late make auxiliary contacts
  • SCCR @65kAIC RMS Symmetrical Rating with Class J Fusing

A Complement to Our SPEC Grade Series
SDS motor disconnects complement our sloped-roof, stainless steel SPEC Grade product line. All SPEC Grade units feature UL and NEMA 4X ratings, as well as a 15° sloped roof that facilitates the runoff of liquids and cleaning residue-lowering the risk of contaminant harborage.

Both our SDS and SPEC Grade stainless steel enclosures are ideal for a variety of applications where cleanliness is paramount, including food and beverage manufacturing, meat and dairy processing, pulp plants and pharmaceuticals.
